Chips

To chip or not to chip... Is it better to chip your car first, then do motor work or should I just say forget the chip. Are the chips worth the hassle?

what kind of chip do you have? how much did it cost? where did you get it installed? I'm thinking of getting one for my car, but I want it to pass inspection.

I don't have a chip yet. I wanted to know if they were worth buying. But, check the internet theres lots of place that will install them. I talked to someone who drove to this one place and waited. An hour later his car was chiped and ready to go. He got work done on his car at the dealership and they hooked his car up to a computer. To this day they still don't know the car is chipped. He says it's awsome. I wanted to know if there was a lot of other stuff I would have to do to my car before I got it and if you have to replace them ever.

the three best companies are APR, GIAC, and REVO. you can run it by itself. it wont hurt anything and if you have either a 1.8t or 2.0t its going to be a major difference. they are undetecable by dealerships its probally the best bang for your buck.

dont go APR ther fueling systems suck i had an APR in my jetta for 2 months and it ran like pure ass. i switched to C2. i dont know about just the chip but if your using the whole setup, i wouldnt recoment APR to anyone. and if put a chip in your ride it will still pass, no problem. unless you go all extream with the fuel curve ( thats only if you run high boost )
